           FAQ's
Is there a fee for your services at CITAC?

No, the services offered through CITAC are sponsored by the Province of BC and are offered at no cost to you.

Do I have to be on Employment Insurance (EI) to access services at CITAC?

No, our services are for all persons who are entitled to work in Canada, are unemployed or under employed and working less than 20 hours per week. CITAC is funded by the Province of BC, Shuswap Training & Employment Program (STEP) and Interior Salish Employment & Training Society (ISETS). Our Trade Consultants can also refer clients who are on a current EI claim or who have reachback status (have either had a regular EI claim in the last 3 years or a maternity or parental claim in the last 5 years) to other Service Canada funded programs including the Skills Development Employment Benefits Program, the Targeted Wage Subsidy Program and the Self Employment Benefit Program. To find out what programs and services best meet your needs we encourage you to meet with one of our Trade Consultants.

Do I need to make an appointment?

We offer scheduled appointments or drop in services at CITAC. The first step before meeting with a Trade Consultant is to have your Employment Counselor complete an individual needs assesment. Secondly, your Employment Counselor will refer you to CITAC where our Trade Consultant will work with you to develop a trade career action plan. Please call us at 250-434-9261 for more information.

What should I bring with me when I meet with a Trade Consultant?

Your most recent resume, certifications, up-to-date tickets, an open mind and any information regarding your Career Goal. When you arrive, we will ask you to complete a short form that will provide us with additional information about your employment situation.

Will you find a job for me?

We can help you with all the aspects of finding work – from establishing a clear career objective,  developing effective job search tools,  to promoting yourself to employers. We are not an employment placement agency so we do not contact employers on your behalf, however we can help you find job postings using the up-to-date information in our Resource Centre.

Can you help me write a resume?

Yes, we offer resume assistance in our Resource Centre. We also offer a short trade resume and cover letter writing workshop which is two hours long.  Call or drop in for more info.

I am hoping to get some funding for training. Can you help?

Yes, if you are seeking funding assistance for training we encourage you to meet with one of our Trade Consultants as soon as possible to explore what funding initiatives may be available to assist you.
